About

A weekend of workshops with Tias Little at The Castro Room. Register for all five, or for individual sessions.

Friday 1:30-4:00p: Lungs, the Source of Prana

The lungs are made of super pliable, elastic tissue. However because they are so pliable, they are vulnerable to strain, blockage and congestion. In this class we use somatic techniques to increase motility of the lungs. We slide, glide and pump the lung tissue to keep them elastic and responsive. In this practice we note how the lungs (along with the heart) are subtle organs, receptive to feelings of all kinds.

Friday 6:30-8:30p: OM and the Great Mystery

In this class we explore the rich and powerful teachings from one of the oldest of yoga texts, the Mandukya Upanishad. This short text provides insight into the nature of OM, waking, dreaming and cultivating peace. We will see how consciousness is inseparable from OM and how to heal the divided self in yoga. Through meditation, movement practice and discussion, this class embodies themes central to the heart of yoga.

Saturday 1:30-4:00p: Fluid Hips, Sacral Waters

In the chakra system, the sacrum and hips are equated with watery flow. But over a lifetime the hip joints can become impacted and dehydrated. Today one in four people suffer from hip osteoarthritis. In this class we do  movements to replenish the tissues around the hip through pumping, rocking, stretching and sliding. This class will bring a feeling of lightness, freedom and ease to your sacrum and hips.

Saturday 5:00-7:30p: The Body of Delight

One of the goals of yoga is to embody the feeling of delight. Unfortunately, in our world today, many people more readily identify with feelings of discontent. Distinctly different than pleasure, delight in yoga is the essential nature of prana and awareness. In this class we touch into the body of delight through movement, sound, meditation and through connection to your deepest calling.

Sunday 1:30-4:00p: Finding the Sweet Spot

Inside every pose there a point of tension and balance that opens all the connective tissues of the body. Thus any given movement requires finding the place where the bones, joints and fascia harmonize so the nervous system can let go and the breath move freely. In this class we practice finding the “sweet spot” in each pose in order to optimize the flow of prana inside.
